ANOTHER OF OUR CO-OPERATIVE VESSELS NOW CERTIFIED TO WORK IN GERMAN WATERS

We have just been informed that another of our vessels has been issued with the prestigious Gleichwertigkeitsbescheinigung - Certificate of Equivalence to permit foreign, commercial vessels to work in German Waters.

It is no mean feat to achieve this as, not only does the vessel owner have to obtain various additional certificates, but the vessel itself and all paperwork has to pass the very strict scrutiny of the German Authorities, who have been known, in the past, with other vessels to insist on many other changes - including, we heard, changing all of the vessels windows!  So, it is a heartfelt "Well Done" to Andy and John in achieving this.

This vessel has been beautifully refurbished and is ideal for guard duties and survey.

LOA 23.99m, cruise speed 9 kts

Accommodation for 20 POB (12 pax) for duration of up to 21 days at sea

Built in 2000, fully refurbished in 2012

Total refurbishment in excess of £500k

We now have four vessels with the Gleichwertigkeitsbescheinigung:

19m CTV, which has just successfully completed a 4 month contract in Germany

15m monohull CTV, which has just successfully completed a 2 month contract in Germany

25.5m monohull CTV, proven on many wind farms

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL CHARTER COMPLETED

Late one Friday afternoon, back in June, we received a request for a vessel required urgently in German waters.  The requirement was from middle of June to end of July, around six weeks.

In our usual style, any plans we had for the rest of the afternoon and evening were put on hold as both phones and both laptops became red hot whilst we did our utmost to find a suitable vessel.  We had several vessels that were perfectly capable of undertaking the task required and that were available but unfortunately not one that already carried the required Gleichwertigkeitsbescheinigung which is the German Certificate of Equivalence to permit vessels to work in German waters.

It is not in our nature to give up, so our next step was to put out a general request on LinkedIn.  On Sunday afternoon we received a telephone call from Seawave Offshore in Denmark.  They had a mono-hull available but we were not certain whether our client would accept a mono-hull or if the vessel had the full Certificate of Equivalence.  Several conversations later and it seemed that we were on to a winner.  The team at Seawave pulled out every stop to fully obtain the Gleichwertigkeitsbescheinigung in record time and soon Captain Jonas was taking the vessel from Denmark to Germany where she was viewed by the client.  Initial feedback on the vessel was very positive.

After a couple of days "trial runs" with some local crew, off she went on full contract.

She has certainly performed well beyond any expectation and the feedback from our customer
has been excellent.  Proof of this in itself is that the contract was extended until the end of August.

Comments from Jette at Seawave have been that it has been "a pleasure to work with OMS and their customer" and we would say exactly the same in return.  This charter has indeed been a pleasure and we would gladly work with Jette, Captain Jonas and the team at every opportunity.

The vessel is now available for charter again and, having proven herself, on Riffgat wind farm, makes her very marketable.

MABEL ALICE COMPLETES FIRST SURVEY OF NEW CONTRACT

Another busy couple of weeks for OMS as Mabel Alice has her annual lift out, anti-foul, inspection and a few other minor jobs in readiness for the start of her new contract.  As always, she passed her inspection with flying colours and we were really chuffed when the inspector commented that it was so nice to inspect a boat that had been so well looked after.

After a few days of waiting for the weather to settle back down, Mabel Alice set off from Yarmouth, on the Isle of Wight, early this morning in near perfect conditions and has successfully completed her first survey on the St Catherine's tidal project.

Initial feedback from the surveyors was that they had had a fantastic day, had been well looked after and Mabel Alice had performed brilliantly.  You can't ask for much better!

Alongside of this, the Co-Operative continues to be busy, with two of the vessels working in Germany both having their contracts extended yet again and we have again managed to find not one but two suitable vessels for a potential contract at short notice.

ANOTHER BUSY WEEK FOR OFFSHORE MARINE SUPPORT LTD

We are delighted to announce that we have secured a 12 month contract for our flagship “Mabel Alice” conducting surveys in support of the £1.6m contract that was approved on 25 July to Royal Haskoning DHV.

The contract was issued for the preparatory works to develop tidal energy testing facilities on the seabed off of St Catherine’s Point on the Isle of Wight which forms part of the Solent Ocean Energy Centre (SOEC) Project.

Mabel Alice is currently in transit from Norfolk back to the Island to undertake the first survey within the next week or two.

This is a major coup for us, especially as we had been personally recommended by two or three different people for this work which goes to show that our hard work, commitment to customer service and sheer determination has, yet again, paid off.  We are delighted to be a part of this project for yet another new customer.

Alongside of this, the Vessel Co-Operative continues to grow with several vessels having successfully completed contracts in the last few months and two vessels currently on contract extensions for two different contracts in Germany.

We are also pleased to announce that the owners of two more substantial vessels have approached us, again from recommendations from third parties, and asked to join our Co-Operative –

a converted 75ft Dutch Steel Beam Trawler – ideal for guard duties and marine mammal observation work –

and a converted 26m Steel Beam Trawler – ideal for guard duties and proven for benthic survey work.

This brings the total amount of vessels that we have within the Co-Operative to 45.

For those of you who don't know this is how we work - once a vessel is deemed suitable, and this may be from a desktop review or physical audit, we include her details in our E-Book which is on our website (http://www.offshoremarinesupport.com/663-2/) and is promoted via blog, LinkedIn, Twitter and is also sent to our contacts who we feel may be interested.  There is no fee for this, all we charge is a simple 2.5% of any charter that we introduce.  How this works is we gross up any rate that the vessel owner requires by this 2.5% (rounded to nearest £50) and by any further commission, should the initial enquiry come via another broker.  At the point that a vessel and rates are accepted we make the direct introduction between the vessel owner and the customer and step out of the final details or else it can get far too complicated with too many people involved!  The vessel owner invoices for the charter directly and we then invoice the vessel owner for our commission.which keeps things totally transparent.  Any other party to whom commission is due, would also invoice the vessel owner directly.  Should the vessel owner introduce any charter to us, we would offer to pay them 2.5% commission on that charter.  We find that this works very well as everything is very clear and totally transparent to all parties leaving nothing hidden and, of course, the vessel owner is paid first, in line with their own terms which they have agreed with the customer, which, in our opinion, is as it should be.

Furthermore, we have found that both our vessel finding service and crew finding service is gaining interest and working very well.

Recently we have placed 4 people into various positions as well as submitting details of several others to interested parties, and have sourced vessels for a number of requirements.  With regard to placing crew, we have had such an interest in this that we have, unfortunately, had to introduce a charge - basically this is based on the equivalent of two days remuneration.  Full Terms and Conditions for this service are available on request.

OFFSHORE MARINE SUPPORT LTD FORMS COLLABORATION WITH HERBOSCH-KIERE MARINE CONTRACTORS LTD

As a result of Guy Brown, the Managing Director, of Herbosch-Kiere Marine Contractors Ltd, attending our own conference back in February, and a further meeting at All Energy in Aberdeen last week, Offshore Marine Support Ltd is pleased to announce that Herbosch-Kiere Marine Contractors Ltd  have chosen to use our co-operative platform for the non exclusive promotion of their extensive marine plant.

Herbosch-Kiere Marine Contractors Ltd is theUK subsidiary of Herbosch-Kiere, a leading European maritime contractor.  Core activities include maritime construction, marine renewable energy, demolition and heavy lifting.  Clients range from local authorities, port and harbour operators to offshore and renewable companies.

Herbosch-Kiere Marine Contractors Ltd is developing an increasingly strong presence in theUKfrom its enviable pedigree and reputation of its parent company, based in Belgium, spanning back over 100 years. Herbosch-Kiere NV is a member of the Eiffage Benelux Group, which in turn is part of Eiffage France – one of the largest civil building and facilities management contractors in Europe, employing some 70,000 people, an annual turnover in excess of 14 billion, with an international network of 500 subsidiaries.

From the UK office, the focus is on projects which have a high degree of technical difficulty or logistical problems and the core marine business includes piling, rock placing, demolition, salvage, heavy lifting and renewable energy installations.  With a continued investment in marine plant the fleet is substantial and Andy Iannetta, Managing Director of Offshore Marine Support Ltd says “we are delighted to be working alongside Guy and the team at Herbosch-Kiere as the opportunities are endless and this will ensure that the Co-Operative continues to grow and meet the challenging demands of the industry”

We shall be promoting all of Herbosch-Kiere equipment over the coming weeks and are more than happy to discuss any requirements.  Guy Brown, Managing Director of Herbosch-Kiere Marine Contractors Ltd says “The Marine Renewables Industry in particular has grown rapidly over the past few years. By bringing owners, energy companies and organisations together the co-operative provides a great opportunity for vessel procurement, so we were delighted when Andy approached us with the idea of utilising the co-operative formed by Offshore Marine Support Ltd."
